And It's One, Two, Three, What Are We Fighting For.......

9 December 2014

Yes, our next stop is Vietnam.  We're here.  In Saigon, aka Ho Chi Minh City.  The traffic is absolutely insane, the food (thus far) is tasty, people are very friendly, and our hotel is comfortable.

And Facebook seems to be blocked, or else just not working today.  But we can't get into FB, or post an update with where we are.

So don't worry, we're in Vietnam.

It was hard saying goodbye to all my friends at the hotel - I ended up in the kitchen saying goodbye to Baby Cat, then giving his mom Anna a hug, then the young ladies in the dining room and kitchen wanted hugs, then the main chef lady came out to shake my hand, and then we all posed for a photo - the other guests were trying to figure out what was going on, but this was the kitty posse and we all kind of bonded over taking care of Baby Cat.  In fact, two of the young ladies came out when they saw us getting into our taxi later on, just to say goodbye again.  So it was a lovely send off, but as I said, sad to say goodbye.

We're off to new adventures, and I'll be posting updates during the coming days.

I just wanted to let you all know - we're here, safe and sound, and not on Facebook.

Oh, a small world story - we came out of our hotel and walked to the end of the street to see what places were nearby to have dinner.  We were chatting, and a man and woman stopped and asked if we needed directions.  We laughed and said we didn't know where we wanted to go, so we weren't exactly lost.  Ended up discussing dinner options with them.  The man is a retired US Navy guy, the woman is his wife and she's from Vietnam, they just returned from the US where she was going to university for her MBA, and they live part-time in Bellingham, Washington!!!!!!  She went to the university where my father taught!  Where I worked on my teacher's certification!  Where Richard and I are now considered residents (at least, part-time, or our residence of record).  Seriously, could have knocked us over at that point - here we come to Vietnam and immediately meet other Bellinghamsters!!!!

It's a teeny tiny small world!!!
